Figure park “Natura Vita” Urban structure
Nemenčinė Road, Vilnius 2008
During the design of the conversion project and according to the nature context that give a sense to the site territory, architectural conception of geometry shapes was chosen. The ideological development of the content of “ecological architecture” was determined by the geomorphic forms of river Neris channel, by the forms of Antakalnis and Valakupiai pinewoods arrays, as well as historically formed residential-recreational and university town environment. With a wish to give the expression of artistic plastic to the architectural design of the project, the exhibition expositional configuration of the buildings and space is formed.
With reference to the principles of natural forms humanization of the ancient tradition, the interpretation of minimal classical architecture is developed (geometric motives of postimpressionistic P. Sezan painting).
In the common territorial town context of the beginning of Nemenčinė road, a complex consolidation is made with the academic town of the university; in this way the importance of rational, harmonious common planning architecture is emphasized. A newly designed multifunctional inhabitable complex is evaluated as a possibility of expression of new architectural studios.
The idea is to treat the buildings and the park as an independent group of sculptural objects, which becomes a transitional link between natural and present town structure.
The buildings are designed through the growth of the town content and development of structural transition from the river, forest, park and separate organic buildings that repeat the forms of nature and which are built on the ground or stylobates, and the buildings which are constructed with primary prototypical geometric shapes (sphere, cube), till the present town context.
The composition is made of several types of buildings: in the first plan by the forest, the buildings of little upholstering, premium quality are designed; each floor has its separate, one-room apartments (the number of the floors ranges from 3 to 6).
Vehicle parking places are set in the underground section (-1, -2 floors). The entrances to the depository are out of newly designed streets. The vehicles enter through the -1 level, and the over-ground section of the street is allocated to the pedestrian alley and square.
In the zone of high quality buildings, the upholstering and height become bigger (from 4-7 floors), the composition of sizes pass from expressive plastic shapes over to higher geometric shapes. In the zone of good quality buildings, the shapes crystallize to simple oblong cubes with the accents of sphere shape, which are arranged on the cubes in roof terraces. In the round shape forecastles the apartments of the highest quality are arranged as unitary panoramic apartments.
The complex of administrative buildings is designed on stylobate as the size of uplifted piece of ground, the facades of which are covered with grass, making emphasis on the idea of the green architecture. In this way, on one of the biggest horizontal buildings, with the wish to give the size of the green architectural hill, the group of vertical buildings is designed which is separated into the shapes of sphere and cube; it structurally renders the dynamics of composition growth.
The visual expression of the administrative building represents the possibilities for ideological art and academic science public practical perspectives.
